Political Comm. (Grad)

About the Class

This seminar-style course engages mixed-method, interdisciplinary political communication research from the past, in the present and looking toward its future. The goal of this course is to examine how scholars have studied the coordination, construction and effects of political messages and their democratic consequences, as well as to explore new possibilities for political communication research that broadens our understanding of the field and its scholarship. “Political communication” has been broadly defined for the purposes of this course, and content will also connect with the broader communication field, as well as with media, technology, etc., demonstrating how much interdisciplinary research has always been attuned to normative questions related to engaged democracy and civic life.
